In fact, they are designed to help consumers better understand and manage their energy usage, leading to potential savings. By providing real-time data on energy usage, smart meters can help consumers make more informed decisions about their electricity consumption, leading to more efficient use of energy and potentially lower costs. However, individual behavior and habits can still influence electricity consumption, so it's important for consumers to actively use the information provided by smart meters to make more energy-efficient choices. **
